FAQ

What kind of board game is Sunday Manager?

Sunday Manager is a competitive strategy board game about running an amateur football club, for 2-4 players aged 12+, playing in 45-60 minutes. Players bid for local footballers in auctions, improve their squad with upgrade cards and sabotage rivals while chasing secret transfer targets. Sunday Manager is easy to learn and needs no football knowledge. Curious how it compares to other football board games? See our honest comparison.

Do I need to know anything about football to play?

No, Sunday Manager requires no football knowledge. The rules explain everything you need, and player cards are characters with funny backstories, not real-world statistics. Football fans will recognise the culture of amateur clubs, which is a bonus, not a requirement. Plenty of non-fans win by simply outsmarting others with good old village common sense.

How many players can play?

2-4 players. The game is fully playable and competitive with 2 players; auctions get wilder with 3 or 4.

Is Sunday Manager good for 2 players?

Yes, Sunday Manager plays well with 2 players and uses the same rules as the 3-4 player game. With two managers, every auction becomes a direct duel and every sabotage card has only one possible target. Expect a tighter game with fewer cards involved. Your opponent will also know exactly who to blame.

How long does a game of Sunday Manager take?

A game of Sunday Manager usually takes 45-60 minutes with 2-4 players. Your first game will run longer while you learn the auction flow and how event cards work. The Rookie Mode in the rulebook keeps that first session much simpler. There is no real downtime between turns, so nobody is scrolling their phone while waiting.

Is the game language dependent?

The game comes in English and German editions. Player cards contain short backstories, so basic reading knowledge of the edition language is recommended. The mechanics themselves are language independent.

Where do you ship and how much does it cost?

We ship across Europe, the UK and the US. European orders are dispatched from our fulfillment hub in Brno, Czech Republic. Rates start at EUR 5.99 and are always all-inclusive: no customs or import fees on delivery. Orders over EUR 80 ship free. Australia, Canada and Asia are opening soon. Full table: shipping policy.

What is in the box?

150 cards, 4 Manager Boards, 1 Auction Board, 17 wooden game pieces, 4 wooden meeples and a rulebook.

What expansions exist?

Three: Swaggers Got Skills, Gentlemen Build Legacy and All-Stars on Steroids. Together they add 150 new cards, new club philosophies and new mechanics. The All-In Bundle contains the base game and all three expansions at a discount.

How do I learn the rules?

Four ways: our rules overview explains how the game works in 5 minutes of reading, the free digital Coach teaches you interactively in 11 minutes in your browser, the rulebook is available as a free PDF download, and the box includes a printed rulebook.

Who is Sunday Manager NOT for?

Fair question. Sunday Manager does not simulate the match itself: nobody dribbles or shoots, you run the club around the matches. If you want on-pitch action, a matchday simulation like Counter Attack or classic Subbuteo serves that better (we wrote an honest comparison of football board games). And at 45-60 minutes it is a main course, not a 15-minute filler.

Who made Sunday Manager?

Sunday Manager was designed by Viktor Asimov and Martin Petro and published by Hafnos Interactive. It was developed and is manufactured in the European Union. After a sold-out home release in 2024, it was funded on Kickstarter in 2025 and is now shipping across Europe, the UK and the US.
